about

This album is composed for audio play written by Elizaveta Mamon - “Z Dnem Bat’ka (Happy Father’s Day)”.

The story is about complicated relationships between a young girl Vika and her father Alex.

In my opinion, there is a communication problem between fathers and their children. Many children don’t have the right emotional connection with their dads. This topic can be discussed endlessly. Unfortunately, the older I become the less I know what the solution is. And it seems all that we can tell to the young broken hearts is that we’re here and we always be near.

My own story of this fallen connection lights up with emotional pressure that my dad put on me. When we had been starting a discussion, it mostly had been ended up with a conflict. I always tried to convince him to follow the logic and science facts but every time it was all in vain. It always ended with me leaving the battlefield in tears. According to a regular scenario a few hours later he behaved like nothing had happened. I felt the needed connection during my first 8 years of childhood but the more years have passed, the more gaps I have been finding.

He showed me an endless universe of sounds and instruments. But also he showed me an endless stubbornness. He taught me to be courageous. But also he showed me how loud could man scream at woman. It seemed impossible to get the right emotional connection or understanding sometimes. He had shown his connection the way he understood this, mostly through some material stuff like buying toys. Often it was really wonderful. Children love toys. But for me, love is never about some stuff.

I remember the summer that we had spend near the sea when I was 8. We were looking at the waves together and he was telling me things about the tides and storms.

I remember the summer evening when I was 6. We sat on a balcony, he was smoking a cigarette and we were looking at the sky, then he had been telling me about falling stars for almost an hour.

This kind of love, when your father cares about things you like. This kind of love when he supports your choice and passion to something. This is kind of love and connection is what really important and makes sense in my opinion.

Thanks a lot to Vidlik Projects and Youkh Culture. It was an awesome collaboration and experience.
